  • Irkutsk anesthesiologists at “White Nights”

    13.07.2021 09:22:03

Oncological Forum "White Nights" is one of the largest events in the field of oncology, bringing together a wide range of specialists from Russia and abroad. Thousands of oncologists, pathologists, chemotherapists, surgeons, radiotherapists, radiation diagnosticians, geneticists, healthcare organizers, scientists, representatives of patient organizations and charitable foundations participate in it every year. In the past two years, due to the coronavirus pandemic, most of them have connected to the forum via video conferencing, but this has had little effect on the popularity of the event: in 2020, for example, almost 7,200 online connections to broadcast reports were made in four days.

"White Nights-2021" is 93 specialized sections (among them a section of anesthesiology, in which the Irkutsk doctors took part), 33 symposia, 4 online conferences in “Live surgery” format. The forum was attended by 530 speakers, including the head of the ICU department No. 4 of the Regional Cancer Center, Dmitry Morikov, with the report “Experience of intensive care of patients after performing cytoreductive operations with hyperthermic intra-abdominal chemoperfusion for ovarian cancer” and doctor Victoria Kartashova from the same ICU department, who prepared a report "The problem of pseudomembranous colitis complicated by toxic megacolon in oncology”.

This is not the first time Dmitry Morikov and Victoria Kartashova have acted as speakers of the forum: they had their debut back in 2019. In past years, their colleagues from the Regional Cancer Center also participated in the forum: it was the head of the surgical treatment methods department No. 10 (bones, skin and soft tissues tumors) Alexey Kozhevnikov, former deputy chief physician for medical affairs Alexei Shelekhov (since January 2021 - Deputy Minister of Health of the Irkutsk Region), and surgeon of the coloproctology department Sergey Radostev. The latter, in 2019 with his report took the second place in the competition for young scientists held as part of the “White Nights”.

The current speeches of Irkutsk anesthesiologists were highly appreciated by the organizers and participants of the forum: by its results, Dmitry Morikov and Victoria Kartashova were invited to present their reports at the Anesthesiological Scientific and Educational Forum “Nevsky Bridges”, which will be held in St. Petersburg this fall.
